Hardwood Classic

REFINED INDIANA 2028 played up in the 10th grade division and competed like there was no tomorrow, blood and sweat dripped from their jerseys by the end of the weekend.

Standout Player: Ashton Reid, getting off to a slow start in game 1, but finished out the weekend showing off his ability to get to the free throw line. He also showed off his One-of-a-kind rebounding ability.

Queen City Clash (Prep Hoops)

REFINED INDIANA 2028 came out and DOMINATED the Prep Hoops Queen City Clash event this weekend. The boys finished 4-0 with a total point differential of +42. They finished 2nd in the standings on the weekend, kicking off our first Prep Hoops event on a high note.

Standout Player(s): Jaxen Bennett & Barrett (Bear) Rucker gave us four outstanding performances this weekend. Both showing off how essential they are to this extremely well rounded team.

Jax's Stats: PPG: 17.3, FG: 60%, 3FG: 45%, FT: 86%, RPG: 3.3, APG: 5.5, SPG: 1.3

Bear's Stats: PPG: 16.0, FG: 52%, 3FG: 42%, FT: 73%, RPG: 7.0, APG: 1.3, SPG: 1.5, BPG: 2.2

Midwest Clash (Made Hoops)

Refined Indiana 2028 went down to St. Louis for an exciting weekend of basketball. They came out of the weekend 3-0, taking care of business, and handling some adversity throughout the weekend. The defensive intensity is something that must be noted. The team walked away from the weekend tallying a total of 48 steals in 3 games. That is quite an impressive stat to say the least. Holding the opposing teams to a total of 140 points, while also scoring a total of 244 points. It was a weekend for the books, everyone seemed to take their game to another level.

Standout Player: Jesse Craig & Joey Iovino, both of these guys had breakout weekends. Joey was attacking the rim and finishing what seemed like everything he put up in the paint. He finished the weekend averaging 15.7ppg, 4.0apg, and 4.0spg. The dead-eye sharp shooting of Jesse Craig is what sparked a lot of the Refined runs, Jesse shot 48% from beyond the arc. Knocking down an impressive (12-25) 3 point attempts. He walked out of the weekend averaging 16.7ppg.

SHOUTOUT: Ashton Reid put threw down his first ever POSTER in game 1 on Saturday! Check it out in the link below!!!

Havoc in the Heartland (Prep Hoops)

Refined Indiana 2028 Went 0-3 on the weekend. With that being said, they faced high quality teams, one of those teams is on the UAA shoe circuit and has been excelling at that level. Refined only lost to that team by 5 points and that was an off game for them as they uncharacteristically struggled to hit outside shots. The boys fought hard and got over some adversity, it was a good learning and growing weekend.

Standout Player: Joey Iovino stepped up this past weekend, on his homecourt at Westfield. He showcased his ability to reek havoc on the ball handler, not allowing them to be comfortable at any moment that they have the ball. He was also very impressive with his footwork, he loves to get to about 10 feet and then showcase his body control with a variety of moves: Step throughs, step arounds, extended finishes, and fade away jump shots. This was the breakout weekend that the team needed from Joey and he proved that he has all of the abilities, including a knock down 3 point shot when left open.

Next Level (Live) Invitational (NYLA)

Refined Indiana 2028 Played in 4 games this weekend in their first taste of a NCAA LIVE event and they did NOT disappoint. The boys walked away unscathed, going to an easy 4-0 in the event. The boys handled business, winning their games by a combined spread of 151 points.

Standout Player: Jaxen Bennett and Ashton Reid, as they both finished the weekend averaging 15.3 PPG. Jax did a great job of finding the open guy and being a leader for the team. Ashton did a great job of dominating the boards on both ends of the court, and finished at a crazy high percentage.

Jax's stats: 15.3 PPG, 57% FG, 52% 3FG, 4.8 RPG, 3.3 APG, 1.3 SPG

Ashton's Stats: 15.3 PPG, 69% FG, 57% 3FG, 6.3 RPG, 2.5 APG, 2.3 SPG

National Open Championship (Prep Hoops)

Refined 2028 had a pretty good weekend, as they played against the top Prep Hoops teams across the country. The boys started off the weekend with a good win 73-63 VS IE Indy Hoops Black, they then took on Minnesota Fury - Wilde (Top 5 UAA) and competed the entire game as their group verbalized how impressed they were with our squad. Rebounding was the difference in this game as Refined lost 51-65. They turned it around in the last game saturday, beating Uncheckable Elite 67-60. Sunday VS London Venom, the boys came out hot and got the job done to finish 3-1 on the weekend, Placing 3rd place in the tournament.

Standout Player: Elijah Berger and Joey Iovino, as they impressed us on both sides of the ball, Elijah's defense had a huge impact on Saturday and Sunday once he got comfortable with the team, he started to show off his offensive capability as he went 5/8 from 3pt range and averaged 9.5ppg for us. Joey Iovino did a really good job of creating turnovers on the defensive end and showcased his scoring attacking the rim along with his outstanding footwork in those scoring moves.

Side Note: Outside of Ethan Goodwin, (4ppg, 88% FT, 3.8apg, 0.8 rbg, 0.5bpg) The entire team averaged 9.5ppg or more: Jesse Craig 11.5ppg, Ashton Reid 10.8ppg, Joey Iovino 10.5ppg, Bear Rucker 10ppg, Elijah Berger 9.5ppg, Jaxen Bennett 9.5ppg. This is one of the most impressive feats that an AAU team can achieve, and shows the depth and togetherness that this group has. A family and unified front.

End of Summer

Refined 2028 played up in the 10th grade division and walked through the first 2 games on Saturday winning with scores of 56-33 and 68-23. On Sunday the team ran into a lengthy Fire HS team and struggled to knock down three's only burying 4 during the game. Refined had a chance to pull off the win, but missed open looks on back to back possessions.

Standout Player: Jesse Craig and Ashton Reid, as they averaged (Jesse) 11.7ppg, 50% from 3pt range (5-10), (Ashton) 9.7ppg, 3.3apg, 1.3spg. The two of them were not the only bright spots on the team, but they stood out in big moments. This monster core of a team that has 6 players that could score double figures at any moment makes them extremely hard to beat.

Hardwood Classic

Our 9th Grade Navy team Came out firing on all cylinders, they exceeded their expectations and knocked down tough shots and played excellent defense.

Standout Player: Noah Heuer, really impressive performance. Finished through contact very well, and knocked down some heavily worked on 3's.

Crossroads Clash

Our 9th Grade Navy team was putting it together on both ends this weekend. controlling the glass on both sides of the ball. This team did an outstandign job getting to the rim and finishing at a high rate.

Standout player: Grady Miller, Grady was doing it all for the Navy group. He controlled the tempo of the game, knocked down some clutch 3's, locked up any player he was guarding, and dove on what seemed like every single loose ball. Grady put together a weekend that every coach desires.

The Classic

The Navy team as a whole impressed us this weekend. They showed off their ability to get up and pressure the basketball very well, and that turned into them showcasing their ability to get out and run in the fastbreak. They also did an amazing job getting post touches and scoring out of that, whether it was a post move or a high percentage kick out 3 point shot. The offensive side of the ball really got them going.

Standout Player: Noah Heuer Showcased everything that he has been working on in private. He seemed to find a way to score in the post every time he touched the ball. He scored in a variety of way, drop steps, hook shots, and fade away jumpers. He also connected on multiple catch and shoot 3's and knocked down a high percentage of his FT's. His improvement with his jumpshot has really taken his game to the next level.

Superstar Invitational

Standout Player: Brandon Finney, his athleticism and wingspan created issues for the opposing teams. Brandon also showcased his ability to step out and knock down the 3, as well as handle the ball and create scoring opportunites going downhill. Brandon has impressed us with his improvement this summer.

Firecracker Classic

The 9th Grade team had some bright spots this weekend, I was impressed with their ability to get out and run, knocking down 3's and doing a great job of penetrating and kicking to the open man.

Standout Player: Grady Miller, was our guy this weekend. He really impressed us with his improvement from 3pt range. He is hitting the longball at a high clip, and with his top notch touch around the rim, and his high energy on defense, he is developing into quite the nice and well rounded Point Guard.

Summer Showcase

The Refined 9th Navy team came out and dominated this weekend on both sides of the basketball. On Saturday they came out and hit everything that they threw up. In game 1 on Saturday they started the game perfect from the field for the first 10 minutes of game time. Their defense was a force to not be reckoned with as they out rebounded, out hustled, and turned the other team over and got out into transition. It was an impressive weekend for the boys that sadly got stopped in it's tracks in the semi final game where they lost in OT due to injuries and running out of gas as they played short handed.

Standout Player: Jaxson Minnick, picked up right where he left off in May, he played remarkable defense, securing a plethora of rebounds. Then he was very effective in transition getting to the rim and knocking down some dishearting 3's. As per usual, he was knocking down his trademark mid-range pullup at a very high percentage.

End of Summer

The Refined 9th Navy team had a pretty decent weekend despite going 1-3. They were without; 6'8" big Jake willing, 6'4" Big Noah Heuer, and 6'3" Wing Jaxson Minnick. They fought every game and made both games on Saturday 1 possession games. They came out on top game 1 on Sunday 44-36, but struggled to finish out the weekend strong, losing in the championship game.

Standout Player(s): Kellen Williams and Brock Titus, both of these boys had a great weekend of basketball. Brock started out Saturday HOT drilling multiple 3's in games 1 and 2, he continued that same fire on Sunday but in a different way as he found a variety of ways to score inside, specifically the floater down the middle of the lane. Kellen on the other hand had his expected showout, he has consistently score the ball at all 3 levels for the 2028 class depspite being a 2029 player. Honorable mention, Nolan Howell had an outstanding weekend as he knocked down 3's and showed some craftiness around the rim.

Hardwood Classic

The 8th Grade team showed us exactly what we expected from such a talented group and played at a fast-paced tempo, forcing the other team into turnovers and/or blocked shots at the rim.

Standout Player: Kellen Williams, played outstanding this weekend, knocking down extremely difficult shots, facilitated well, and overall found multiple ways to become an asset on both sides of the ball.

Crossroads Clash

Our 8th Grade team came into the tournament with a chip on their shoulder. They got right to it on Saturday beating both teams they played by 20+ points. They group did a really good job of moving the ball around, attacking gaps, and finishing at the rim.

Standout Player: Kellen Williams, Kellen seems to just keep expanding his game day by day. He has proved to be the best player on the court in every matchup that we have had so far, showing off his scoring by tallying 30 points in our 8am game Sunday. Kellen's ability to drive to get in the paint, finishing tough buckets and his excellent 3 point shooting. There is no reason for this kid to have a bright future as a star in our area.

The Classic

The 8th grade team had a good weekend as they finished the weekend 2-2. They were short handed on Saturday missing a couple of starters, but the next two guys stepped up to the plate and did an outstanding job of filling the role of PG and PF. The gel of this group is something that a coach could only dream of. They move the ball so well and trust each other, this group could have a very bright and successful future ahead of them.

Standout Player(s): Kellen Williams & Kaden Cantlon were our most valuable players on the weekend. Kaden really made a stride towards his overall potential, as he showcased his ability to knock down shots, finish around the rim, and defend the other teams best player. Kellen yet again proved to us that he is one of the best, most versitale players in the area. He continues to knock down the 3 at a very high percentage, while also showcasing his impressive game around the rim. His future continues to look brighter and brighter.

Superstar Invitational

Standout Player: Kaden Cantlon, has showed an extensive amount of improvement. Every aspect of his Offensive game has improved, especially his ability to finish around the rim. Kaden has a bright basketball future ahead of him.

Firecracker Classic

The 8th grade team was down some guys due to traveling, so they came out of the weekend dead tired, but they fought hard and continued to fight until the final buzzer. They did a great job of finishing around the rim, just struggled to knock down perimeter shots.

Standout Player: Luke Sullivan, as he found himself getting to the rim and finishing in different acrobatic ways. Along with his always impressive ability to knock down the 3 ball. Luke's game is expanding each game as he tries new things offensively.

Summer Showcase

The Refined 8th grade probably had their best weekend of the summer. They came out slightly flat on Saturday as they saw a pressure 2-3 defense, but they started to figure it out in the 2nd half. They just could not get shots to fall. The last 3 games of the weekend were very good. The boys started to really move without the basketball and find really good open looks, and began to knock them down. They lost on Sunday in a very odd fashion, where they had to play a game on a short court with no 3pt line (Old heads probably loved watching the game) however, this got the boys to really work on their pentration to the rim and movement without the basketball.

Standout Player: Kellen Williams, knocked down a very high percentage of his jump shots, and did a good job of getting to the left side of the rim. He also rebounded well on the weekend, showing off some of his length and athleticism.

End of Summer

The Refined 2029 team went 2-2 on the weekend, with one of their wins coming in a dominant team win 58-20 as they dominated the paint on both sides of the ball. They finished out their year on a strong note, as they competed down to the last possession and just missed an open look to send it to OT. The boys showed extreme improvement this year and I am excited to see these boys grow with their High School teams and become valuable pieces to their respective teams over the next four years.

Standout Player(s): Levi Flowers and Owen Steward, Levi showed that he can be a tremendous paint presence as he blocked multiple shots around the rim as well as secured what seemed like every rebond that was within range of him. Owen seemed to have awaken inside of him what he already knew he was capable of, he showed confidence scoring the basketball from the perimeter. Owen was not hesitating to pull the trigger and it gave us a glimpse of what he is capable of doing when he is actively looking to score.

Hardwood Classic

Our 7th Grade team struggled to score the ball; however, their defensive intensity was outstanding.

Standout Player: Hayden Burns, He showed off his ability to knock down his midrange jump shot at a high clip. He is really focused on becoming a scorer this summer.

Crossroads Clash

Our 7th Grade team faced some adversity this weekend, starting off the weekend strong with a tight game where they only fell to their opponent by 7. They fought hard and found ways to score against pressure. Defensively they did a good job stepping over and helping on drives.

Standout player: Graeme Miller, Graeme was all over the court this weekend. He pressured the basketball, Stayed in the gaps, snagged countless steals, and turned those great defensive possessions into points on the offensive end by getting to the rim, finishing some tough layups, and knocking down the 3 ball at a high clip.

The Classic

The 7th Grade team  Continues to grow with each other every week. They really impressed the coaching staff this weekend. They finished the weekend 1-1 getting their first win on the season! Their first game was a hard fought battle and they came up just short. However, in game 2 they came out firing on all cylinders, as they got to the rim well and dominated the rebounding battle. Those 2 factors allowed them to secure the win!

Standout Player: Grayson Pickering was our GUY this weekend. He came out HOT in game 1, knocking down 5 THREE'S from what seemed like the parking lot. His defense was also very impressive as he was always in the gap, creating issues for the opponents driving game. In game 2 he switched up his game, he was getting to the rim, hitting pull-up jumpers, floaters, and some impressive 1 legged fade aways around the rim. Grayson's game is only just now beginning to show, with the right work, he could be a very good point guard in the near future.

Superstar Invitational

Firecracker Classic

The boys played their first set of games as a full roster together, it was a slow and rough weekend, as they played some tough competition and seemed to be competing with themselves as well, struggling to connect on shots from deep as well as struggled to move without the basketball.

Summer Showcase

The Refined 7th grade team played without a doubt their best weekend of basketball. Their record was 1-2 but that does not reflect the level of basketball they were playing at. They were connecting on a very high percentage of 3's as well as attacking the rim and finishing well. Their only flaw on the weekend was their lack of consistent communication on defense.

Their is no justification behind picking one or even two standout players for the weekend. Personally, the highlight of the weekend was Carter Berndt going 3 for 3 for deep in the first game of the weekend.

End of Summer

The Refined 2030 team went 1-2 on the weekend, finishing out the year on a - not so strong - note. The Boys showed some fire in the first game, coming out hot knocking down a birage of 3's and finished well around the rim that led them to a 63-49 win. The next 2 games were the exact opposite as they couldn't seem to buy a bucket or even catch a break defensively.

Standout Player: Cooper Hensley, he really showed tremendous improvement during the month of July. Cooper had an already well developed driving game attacking the right side of the rim. However, he proved to us that he has been putting hard work in on being just as good of a driver attacking/finishing with his left, as well as really stepping up his shooting game. He was comfortably shooting the 3 ball at a high percentage and not hesitating to shoot it on the catch, he even added in a few step back 3's that looked really good. We have been impressed with his development over the summer, and look forward to even more development this coming year.
